It is true that the housing market is depressed and that new and existing home sales are very difficult to sell. But homes are selling even in mid winter. The secret is to pick very carefully your realtor and abide by her/his advice and council.
After considerable research we chose Patty Ancona of Keller Williams Success to market our home of 31 years. We made the right decision.
Patty made an excellent video of our home, room by room. Also included was an outside tour around the property highlighting the location, neighbors, yard, and pond. This outstanding video, set to an appropriate soothing musical background, was posted on her website.
Patty is excellent. She communicates very well and kept us informed on sale prospects and home visits. She always follows up and keeps in contact with the buyer's realtors. She is extremely knowledgeable of the market, is tenacious, aggressive, determined, and never gives up. Patty does what she says she will and is very reliable.
Patty/Keller Williams is a full service agency. This is very important. It means that they will arrange outside contractors with whom they have good prior experience to paint, clean, repair, fix problems, electrical work, plumbing, etc. as needed. Typically other realtors let the home owners handle these miserable chores.
It is very important to listen and learn from one's realtor and to take her advice especially on pricing both to attract the buyers and close the sale.

I have watched many town homes in my community remain on the market for two to three months, some even longer. Some were listed By Owner, some by Help-U-Sell, others by little recognized realtors.

I just read your bio on your website. Actually I have been a fan of yours for probably ALL of your 30 years in business.
My Streamwood home was my very first home purchase!

Our ministry was able to help a family of seven.They had just been able to rent a place for their family and did not have beds, sofa, table?..really, they have nothing. There was a little drizzle that day and I was worried about things getting wet. But because of your truck we were able to load everything inside nice and dry and deliver it to them.

Since May of 1990, Patty has sold two of our homes in Palatine and helped us buy our current home in Barrington. Patty's expertise in real estate, her business acumen and her friendly personal style are among her strongest assets. When buying our current home, we strongly believe she found us the best home in the best neighborhood that our budget would allow. And she worked very hard to negotiate the best price possible for our homes, which naturally was of paramount importance to us.
We found Patty very knowledgeable in every aspect of real estate.
